Uber's new headquarters in Oakland's historic Capwell building was envisioned as a 21st century office space. The design employed variations of custom casework to enhance the feeling of open work spaces. To reduce drafting time and coordination, the design of each custom casework element was turned into an LOD 350 Revit Family that included sectional details. The jewel of the project was a grand staircase in the atrium that contained several large collaboration spaces. While eventually removed from the scope, the stair was extensively modeled, detailed and included in several permit submittals, requiring the same standard of coordination from the team as if it had been built.
