A stadium with an indoor/outdoor feel on axis with downtown Minneapolis.
An exterior skin that reflects Minnesota's natural culture; blue lakes, falling snow.
Minnesota Vikings Stadium
The skin was designed in Grasshopper. Using attractor points the density of the hexagon-shaped panels dissipates as it approaches ground level.
The skin was then exported as smart geometry to Revit using plugins.
The trusses and operable roof structure were both built parametrically. This allowed the design team to instantly alter truss depths based on discussions with the structural consultant.
The structure was then exported to Revit as IFC steel members.
